Maura Healey election night Maura Healey takes the stage to chants of her own name from the crowd after being elected governor. Healey is the first female governor of Massachusetts and the first openly gay woman to be elected as a United States governor. Healey will take over for the current governor, Charlie Baker, in January of 2023. Healey supporters packed together while watching the election results come in on monitors set up on stage. This event was his 8th time seeing Healey this election season. "Are you ready?" Kim Driscoll, the new lieutenant governor-elect, asks the crowd during her speech. Driscoll is the first lieutenant governor to be elected who attended public college. Driscoll will be moving on from her former position as the first female mayor of Salem.
